This is a true Elk Studios game, as the Sam on The Beach slot proves once again that there is such a thing as a friendly troll.

Remember the Electric Sam online slot? Well, it turns out that he was popular enough as a character for Elk Studios that they decided he needed a new game.

Here, he is heading to the beach; hence the name, wouldn't really have made sense if he was going to the moon, now would it?

This theme is well and truly from Elk Studios. They go over the top with it, and we love it. It means that we end up with video slots that are highly detailed and a tremendous amount of fun to play.

Sam on The Beach slot retains the fun of the original

One of our biggest complaints about slots nowadays is when an original game gets popular. The game creating company then decides to release a sequel, but they completely change up the formula – like Microgaming did with Thunderstruck II slot.

The Beach Memory Respin makes the base game

The main difference between Electric Sam and this version of the game is the addition of a Respin feature, known as Beach Memory Respin.

This feature is triggered when you get four members of the family on the same line. You will then get a respin – much like in the Sakura Fortune slot, but with added sunshine.

These symbols will remain as sticky wilds for the duration of that respin, which is always awesome.

It is not a feature that you are likely to be triggering that often, but when you do, it always seems to award you a nice bit of cash.

The free spins feature is much the same as the original, although the special powers of each of the family members have been shaken up a little bit to be a touch more lucrative.

In order to trigger your free spins, you will need to get at least three scatters on the reels. This will give you five free spins. You get ten if you have four scatters, and fifteen with five scatters.

It may not seem like a lot, but it is difficult not to win money on this feature, unlike the free spin bonus in Taco Brothers game, for example. Each bell that you get during this feature will award you with an additional free spin.

A win using one of the family member symbols will trigger a feature:

• Sam: Up to four symbols will become sticky wilds for the rest of your free spins.
• Sandra: Catch random multiplier from 2x to 10x

Is this a beach time hit?

Elk Studios are always a little hit and miss when it comes to their slot machines, but this is a hit, in our opinion.

It is changed just enough from the original to be fun, but not so much changed that it takes away the charm.
